PART c.

As I have already said:

In the centre of Berkhamsted there are a number of sites which could make a contribution towards the regeneration of the centre.

c. The site presently occupied by Tesco.

  1. As you can see in the centre of Berkhamsted there are a number of sites which could make a contribution towards the regeneration of the centre.

  2. These sites comprise the following:
    a. The Kingfisher site, which was previously occupied by Waitrose and is now occupied by a hairdresser's, bookshop (with coffee shop), coffee shop, furnishing shop and a health centre.
    b. The parking area at the rear owned by the County Council.
    c. The site presently occupied by Tesco.

The future of these sites seems short-term at best but being under two main freeholders makes potential for a major, comprehensive re-development.

I have been looking at these sites for over seven years and feel that a Town Square could create the starting point for regenerating this area.

In the past we have all had to fight a rear guard action against developer’s proposals.   Inappropriate development that neither enhances our townscape nor is a benefit to our community.
